Family Portraits
Kate has been creating family portraits to commemorate special occasions, or children portraits to capture the lovely stages in a child's life for all the family to enjoy. Her family paintings capture the detail of precious moments in time and the unique characters and personalities of loved ones. A family portrait is a priceless gift!
If you would like a family portrait painting or a children portrait, first assemble a collection of photos and choose your favourite pose. Decide the size you would like and whether you want the portrait to be in coloured pastel or acrylic paint. Backgrounds can be added in or left plain, so you may want them sitting in their favourite chair or walking by the sea. Portraits of family members or friends can be assembled from different photos, which you can send via email, through the post as prints, or on CD. If possible photos should be taken outside in natural daylight or if you would like to use a photograph taken by a professional photographer then please ask for their permission.

Family Portraits
Traditionally posed family portraits are a popular choice but you could choose to immortalise a memorable day, a holiday with loved ones or ask me to paint them in their favourite landscape like this lovely gentleman below.
On the right is a child portrait of little Grace which invited repeat custom as the grandparents wanted more of their grandchildren captured on canvas. The original photo supplied of Grace was black and white but additional photos helped to show her fair colouring. Her favourite colour was pink so I chose to put her in a pink dress illustrating how much artistic license you have with a painting as opposed to a photo.

Portraits of Children
Children are lovely to paint as their skin has a flawless translucent quality about it. The little girl on the left was painted using acrylics on a 16 x 16" deep edged canvas for a more contemporary portrait.
The portrait above is an example of a looser style. It was commissioned as a black and white piece but the customer was happy to be convinced that hints of colour would add warmth and depth.
A wedding portrait makes a perfect wedding gift for the bride and groom to celebrate their special day or to celebrate partnerships in civil ceremonies. Gift vouchers can be bought in advance of the big day as the portrait will be completed after the event. If you want to use professionally taken photographs, please ask permission to use them.
